Rider introduction: Martin Schätzl
Hi, I’m Martin, but most people know me as Moatl, at least now and then. I come from deep in the forest, Waldkirchen to be exact. If you’d like to follow me on Instagram, you’ll find me as @m.schaetz
My biggest cycling successes? Well, I finished 5th at the German Gravel Championships 2023, which was certainly a highlight. In MTB I also took 3rd place at the Bavarian MTB Championships 2023, and I was proud to take part in three World Championships: road race, MTB XCM and of course gravel.
My biggest successes in gravel? … I already count a race without a mechanical as a success. But seriously, I simply focus on getting the most out of every race.
A race I really want to ride? Unbound in the USA and The Traka in Spain are definitely at the top of my list.
My racing style? I’d say I’m considered, forward-thinking and economical. You could say I ride like a gorilla: powerful, hunched, anticipating.
My highlight for the 2024 season? Definitely the World Championships. I also want to make the PROTECTIVE Factory Team better known.

Einen derart charakterlich schwachen und arroganten Radfahrer wie diesen Waldkirchner habe ich Gottseidank beim Radfahren bisher noch nie angetroffen. Eine sicher sehr gute Entscheidung , diesen Typ aus euerem Team zu entfernen.
